Letters to my son:

Letters to my son:

Some roads we travel are long and hard some are just small steps along a much wider path that often is to vast to truly see when your on it. So remember to breathe have faith in yourself. When troubled time find you and they will, count your blessings and your friends. And realize everything changes and it’s going to be okay.
Remember to love hard with all of your heart and laugh and cry with equal passion. Keep balance in your life by doing the things you love along side of the things life requires you to do and you’ll live a life worth remembering.
You’ll hear people say regret nothing.. Well I’m here to tell you that doesn’t really happen. You’ll make a million choices in your life some you’ll pat yourself on the back for and others you’ll beat yourself up for.
One thing though at least you made a choice and that’s the hardest part.
At the end of the day is you can surround yourself with a few good friends a warm meal and a laugh or two then it was a good day. And remember boy’o it’s only life. No matter how hard you try there are going to be times where it feels like you just can’t win. Those are the days where your heart, will and determination will carry you through.
And should you ever forget or lose faith in yourself know one thing. I’m proud of you. I love you and always will.
Keep moving forward and remember to be brave be bold and thrive in the life you have because at any given moment things can change.

All my love.
Dad.

  1. Ben, this is a letter than will sustain your son all his life and especially the part about knowing that YOU are so proud of him.
Life certainly isn’t a fairy tale, as you say, but having such a loving father is an invaluable treasure. I should know, as I had one, and I re and re-read the one letter he wrote me.
